Our Philosophy
We chose to breed Ripley as an affirmation of life, love, and connection—not as a business venture. Any adoption fee we collect is simply to help offset the significant costs of health testing, veterinary care, and raising a well-socialized litter. Any funds we receive beyond our expenses will be donated to our local humane society to support dogs in shelters.
We deeply respect and support dog adoption, and we honor those who open their homes to rescue dogs. This breeding is simply the path that makes the most sense for our family at the moment—and one we approach with care, ethics, and gratitude.
Planning for Ripley’s Litter
Ripley is expecting her first—and only—litter. We’ve spent three years preparing for this moment, and we plan to keep one of her puppies to continue the legacy of love our dogs have given us.
This breeding was carefully planned with health, temperament, and ethics at the forefront. Both Ripley and her chosen mate (see About the Parents page) have undergone genetic testing and are free of the common hereditary conditions that affect the breed. They’ve also passed hip and elbow evaluations to reduce the risk of joint issues like arthritis.
As a family of scientists, we’ve loved diving into the genetics of coat color (see About the Breed page) and are excited to see how that plays out in Ripley's litter. More importantly, we’ve prioritized creating well-adjusted, healthy pups who will be wonderful additions to their future families.
Join Us on This Journey
At the time of this writing, Ripley is entering her last few weeks of pregnancy. We’re watching her belly grow and her personality shift with each passing day. If all goes well, in just a few weeks, we’ll be welcoming a litter of healthy, vibrant puppies.
We’ll be documenting this journey—pregnancy, birth, and puppy milestones—with regular updates, photos, and videos. We invite you to follow along as Ripley steps into motherhood and the puppies begin their lives.
Of course, we’ll be looking for loving, responsible homes for each of the pups (except the one we keep!). If you're interested in adopting one, please use our contact page to each out to us.
To the right is a photo of Ripley today -- taking an unheard of but much deserved rest break.
