Surprise! Let's play!
Australian Shepherds are not starter dogs and they are not for everyone. They are delightful, affectionate, full of surprises and attentive quick learners, but you will be unhappy with what they do with all their cleverness, diabolical creativity and energy unless you spend the time to teach them how you need them to be. Make sure you ask yourself if you are ready!

Apparently, we had planned to bake!
Our 4-yr old Aussie is currently a dream. However, between the ages of 6 months and 2 years, she required consistent attention. She was high energy and always up for a game of chase, even if we had better things to do. One way to get you to play chase is to take things. In our observation, this strategy is common in Aussies and is very effective. I cannot stress this enough: Aussies like to TAKE things. Here you see Ripley with a beater head. Apparently, we had planned to bake. In another photo, you see Ripley with expensive sunglasses. She especially liked all kinds of glasses. Apple Air Pods were also a favorite -- soft on the outside and crunchy on the inside! But she also ran with scissors and once jumped in bed with me carrying a giant butcher knife. So -- make sure you are ready!

If you want these, you'll have to catch me!

No Radio Control car, no matter how fast, had any kind of chance!

Don't let this be you! Make sure you are ready!!
